It’s been a while since i wrote out a batrap. (I’m useless with taking photos) but here we go again!
Recently i took Kruger 2 and Kaya 3 to a large steam roller full of sharks and managed to pull out 3 wins with Kaya so i knew i liked her. I did however want to try out a very similar list but with Tuna to see how she pilots it, I had tailored this list to be good into madrak, hence the two purebloods. Hot swapping hand of fate, with wraithbane on their spray 10s is a thing. But i also wanted to run it into other things to see how it went. So here is the list i brought along:
Una the Skyhunter
Swamp Gobber Chef
My opponents list:
Saeryn and Rice, Talons of Everblight
-Nephalim… Guard Dog
– Naga Nightlurker
Throne of Everblight
Throne of Everblight
Wrong eye & Snapjaw
Sorceress on Helion
We rolled off and i won the starting roll opting to go first.
I deploy centrally with my two purebloods central and my razorwings on the far flanks with my stones positioned near enough to the zones to get into them later on. Mark also deploys centrally with a Throne on each flank the one on my left getting banishing ward.
Circle Turn 1:
Standard turn 1. I run everything up and soothing song my stuff to make sure it doesn’t all go fucking mental.
Legion Turn 1:
Mark runs up, leading with Rice aggressively. But under the guard dragon and wong eye. Each throne toes a zone.
Circle Turn 2:
I was at a bit of a loss with what to do with this turn. He out threat me, and Rice was scary. I decided to try and put a bit of damage into his beasts through my pure bloods, the first moved up and sprayed Rice, missing the boosted 11 but then Tuna Hand of fates the other and he moves up and sprays her, causing her to transfer a big spike of 15 damage to the naga. I moved a couple of griffons up to toe each zone and kept the rest behind the forest ready to charge through.
Legion Turn 2:
I didn’t play my last turn very well and Mark was ready to punish me for it. Rice gets slipstreamed and charges in on my beasts in the right zone and 4 flashing blades later i’ve lost two griffons, a pureblood and a shifting stone. The Throne advances up and takes out the other two stones. The Seraph boosts a couple of shots into my other pureblood, flaring him. The Hellion runs to bodyblock for Rice and the guard dog runs to cover Saeryn since it can’t reach Rice. The other throne charges in and attacks my stuff, it kills a stone and sprays at my griffons allowing them to dodge forward to threaten his caster. Snapjaw kills my other pureblood and Mark goes to a confident 2-0 lead.
Circle Turn 3:
Ouch… a rough turn. I decided to go for an assassination as his last turn put me really far behind on attrition. Tuna moves up, primals two griffons and puts out hand of fate, feats and then shoots the guard dog with a thunderbolt, boosting the hit, hoping for a crit to knock him down and remove the bonus, unfortunately i don’t get it and instead just shunt him back 3 inches. The gorax primals another Griffon and then i run the razorwing to engage wrongeye who is camping 1. I get another bird onto him and rip his head off. I run a griffon to Rice and a griffon to Saeryn and then get a griffon stuck in on each. Rice gets fucked but Saeryn doesn’t. In the end i leave her with one transfer left after all of my attacks, (I needed to hit all of the hand of fated 8s) With that i shake Marks hand as Tuna is dry infront of Zuriel and a Throne.
(I forgot to take a photo as i was a sad panda)
A tough game played poorly by me. In the end i could have gotten an extra bird onto Saeryn as i really didn’t need the flank bonus on Rice since she was on 0 camp and i was in her back arc. An extra bird could have tipped the scales but my mistakes started even earlier. I feel like i should have pressured the left and kept the forest between me and Rice as she was the main hitting power for his list. But, taking nothing away from Mark he played very well. The game was very useful though as it made me realise that i was a fool for cheating on Kaya… Tuna is a fine caster but she doesn’t really offer any defence for the list where and their offensive power is fairly similar. I’ll be sticking with my Bae from now on!
