I deployed with my riders central as they are fast enough to get to wherever they need to be, ravagers on each flank and the raptor slightly off centre towards the right. The noble gobber chef went on the left.
Luke deployed his Reivers and canoneer centrally with a turtle on each flank. The Sentry took the right flank and the gremlin swarm the left. The slingers AD’d centrally.
Luke won the role off to go first so i picked the side with a hill, a forest and a trench and we got going.
(Note picture taken as Luke was starting his turn so slingers had moved)
Skorne Turn 1:
Luke whipped his two turtles to 3 rage tokens each and advanced up toeing each zone with a turtle, the rubble and lake slowing his Reivers and Cannoneer’s advance. Rasheth moved up to behind his wall and put carnivore on the right turtle.
Circle Turn 1:
Carnivore goes on my right unit or ravagers as the Reivers are weighted slightly more to that side. They run up with a couple in front baiting vengeance. My shamans move up and use hunters grace to cover as many ravagers as i can. The raptor advances, puts around 10 damage into the right turtle then moves out of it’s threat with deceptively mobile. The wolf riders move and jump and kill off 2 slingers before repoing, one moving up and tying up 2 slingers the others moving back out of threat.
Skorne Turn 2:
Not a huge amount of aggression this turn, the turtles back up and clear out a few ravagers with the guns with the reivers CRAing the final vengeance baiting ravager down. The sentry moves up to behind a cloud and the cannoneer puts down the Tharn ravager shaman. (I positioned this guy way too greedily. I tried to get too much in the no KD aura but put him in danger in doing so, meaning i lost magical weapons on the side of the board with the gremlin swarm. Sad Panda)
Circle Turn 2:
Luke tried to keep the turtle out of the ravagers threat range but with vengeance there was still one who could JUST make it there. The turtle still had 20 boxes left so i knew i needed to ding it up more before sending it in. I first activated the Raptor, who advanced to skyfire range and put some shots in dropping it down to 5 boxes. Next i activated the riders. With an advance and jumps i got them right into the middle of the Reivers. I put one spear attack into the turtle doing 2 points of damage and put the rest of the attacks into the Reivers killing off 5 of them as well as 2 slingers and then repo’d into more stuff to be as annoying as possible. (One B2Bing Rasheth to give him annoyance) Lord of the feast attempted to kill the turtle so i could keep Morv safer but he fluffed it. The one ravager charged in needing a boosted 8 with a re roll to down the turtle and pulled it off dropping it, the rest just move up into the zone. The left ravagers just jammed up the left turtle to protect Morvhanna as I needed to move her up out the trench to get in re roll range of the ravager on the right to ensure he killed the turtle. I learnt from my last game and kept a rider and a ravager from each unit way, way back out of threat range for the feat as i knew i’d lose a lot next turn.
Skorne Turn 3:
Luke gets a lot of work done this turn. He starts off with Raseth who feats, he then shoots his own slinger with a breath of corruption catching two wolf riders in the blast damage killing them both. The Extoller soulward advances up and kills off the third wolf rider and the beast handlers earn a promotion by charging and killing Lord of the feast. G’wed lads. The left derp turtle kills off all of the left ravagers barring the one i kept back out of range. The last slinger runs into the left zone and the Reivers run across to the left to pressure the zone more while the sentry kills off one of my ravagers and puts up ret strike.
Luke Scores the left Circle!

Circle Turn 3:
As expected i lost a lot, but with the feat out the way i know he isn’t going to kill my stuff as effectively anymore. I start with Morvhanna and feat for 12 bringing back every single ravager and all of the riders. The Raptor then advances and shoots the sentry and with 3 shots. Under skyfire, with 1 boosted damage and a re roll to damage he does a mighty 1 point (He must be out of juice) I charge with two ravagers and the chief (Putting two of them B2B infront of the chief so he can’t ret strike him) due to the feat and Morv being so low they do barely anything and one gets ret struck to death. One ravager is a hero though and charges a beast handler and proceeds to pacman through them all before fluffing on the Extoller who was on 2 boxes (Leaving him on one) But killing all of the handlers with Carnivore up healed all of Morvs boxes but one. The rider champ tried to stick the sentry in the back with a spear but again due to the feat just bounced off. The one left ravager that could attack killed the last slinger and the rest gummed up the turtle. The Riders again got stuck into his ranged units, with one getting within an inch of Raseth again.

Skorne Turn 4:
Luke tries to unjam the left Turtle so it can get in range of more ravagers, he starts by triggering 3 free strikes from my wolf rider on his Reivers, all three die feeding the Extoller souls and the rest CRA into the rider. Killing it. He then tries to shoot the ravager in front of the turtle with the Extoller soulward who misses (Needed a boosted 12 due to the ravager being engaged) and hits the turtle doing 10 damage to it (What a guy) Rasheth goes next and throws out two sunder spirits at it. The first missing and hitting the turtle but doing no damage, the second hitting it and killing it but he toughs. (That’s the second tough check i made all game so i think i’m owed such an annoying tough) the turtle then activates and clears it with the spears before advancing up and attacking the ravagers. He kills the one he’s in the back arc with but then Lukes dice go cold and 4 gun shots and 3 bought attacks all miss the remaining ravagers. (10s on the gun and 7s on the tail so not outside the realms of possibility but still not likely) The Cannoneer, now free’d boosts a shot into a wolf rider catching another with blast damage and kills them both (Still haven’t learned my lesson) And the other extoller shoots the ravager he’s engaged with forcing a tough, which he passes.
Still nobody scores
1 – 0 to Skorne.
Circle Turn 4:
With the Extoller helping out i know i can finish the second turtle and from that point the game is fairly secure outside of an assassination. The ravagers all manage to get a charge attack on the turtle and they finish it off with the final ravagers attack who then buys on the cannoneer, doing a bit of chip damage. My other ravager unit kills the sentry and the other soulward and the raptor wanting to make up for last turn kills the objective with just 2 shots (Must have new batteries) My riders are planning on scoring the right circle as one ravager is way outside of it and i’d rather not kill him if i can avoid it. So the riders back up and with nothing else to shoot at take some pot shots at Rasheth. They both hit and do solid damage to him before repoing back into the circle zone. My rider champ, similarly doesn’t have much to do so advances and jumps behind Rasheth, she hits all three attacks thanks to backstab and forces 3 transfers to the Cannoneer doing substantial damage, leaving Rasheth on 3 boxes. Morv sits in the central zone behind a house camping 5 with fog of war up.
Circle Scores 3
3-1 to Circle
At this point Luke concedes as he physically doesn’t have enough attacks for all the transfers i have and he has no way to stop me scoring for more than 1 turn. Plus with Rasheth on 3 boxes and only one very heavily damaged transfer target there isn’t much he can do to stop me killing him the following turn.
Losing the turtle early was huge and started the downward spiral of attrition that lead to the defeat. However, even without the ravager being able to get there I think it was still very killable with the riders who could have focussed it down and then repo’d into his ranged units. Having not seen the post CID raptor before, Luke underestimated it’s ranged output which happens to be godlike. I’m a big fan of it with Morv 2 as the re rolls make that sustained attack really reliable even without a boost and it’s also a reliable damage increase for it at range without applying a debuff which can be countered by several things in the meta and are of course, dependent on hitting. Wolf riders are another thing that i am a big fan of. With fog of war and a champ they are very likely to make it into melee (especially with their insane speed) and once they are there they get so many attacks and are so hard to hit that they become a massive headache for the opponent to deal with. I think i’ll be running this list going forward as i am a huge fan of how it feels on the table.
