My second game of the evening and i got a game into Paul’s Ret, he had Vyross 2 and 4shade but wanted as much practice with shade as possible so decided to play him.
Circle Orboros – Devourers Host
Morvhanna the Dawnshadow
Wolf Rider Champion
Lord of the Feast
Bloodweaver Night Witch
Tharn Wolf Riders
Retribution of Scyrah – Legions of Dawn
Paul won the roll off and decided to take first turn. I picked the side that could better abuse the central building. Paul Deployed his Destors on my left, his sentinels on my right and his battlegroup and castor central with the trident slightly off to the left. I put my bird slightly to the left to abuse the Destors at range, my riders and one ravager unit went on the right to much through his sentinels, along with the nightwitch as i expected Dauntless resolve on the sentinels. My other ravagers went left to play into his Trident.
Ret Turn 1
Dauntless resolve does indeed go on the Sentinels and he pops out a couple of clouds. Everything else runs up as far as it can respecting my threat ranges.
Circle Turn 1
My raptor moves up and puts some shots into the Trident doing alright damage. Lord of the feast runs up behind the central building, and my ravagers and riders get as far up as they can while staying safe. I put on ravager from each unit up as far as i can to try and bait vengeance. Carnivore goes on the right ravagers and fog is cast.
Ret Turn 2
Paul has a potential assassination here. It would involve arcing a wrath of light at a ravager next to Morv and ghost walking impy so he could charge through the building at a better angle. It would involve two side steps going off and two failed tough rolls and would still then need to hit Morv who was camping 2. The Trident could have shot at her too but it would have struggled to hit. It was also quite an all in play so Paul decided not to go for it. Instead his Trident moves up and shoots my bird 3 times and spikes like a mad man doing 23 damage to it. He tries to shoot morv and misses. His Destors get stuck in and kill off one of my ravagers. His sentinels then mini feat and charge and kill the one ravager they can get to. He also feats covering everything but one Destor.
Circle Turn 2
On the left i was able to kill off his Trident with 4 ravagers charging. The rest are able to clear out two destors, one of which was outside the feat so no stationary. On the right my nightwitch walks up and dispels Dauntless resolve, she also kill the one she hits stationarying her. Another ravager kills another sentinel in the zone and my riders are able to clear the rest, most of them using their ranged spears to avoid the feat meaning only one gets stationaried. My bird then moves up and shoots the destor thane and two normal destors off the board. I opt to keep feasty boy out hoping to get a better turn once his feat is done.
I score 2
2 – 0 to Circle!
Ret Turn 3
Paul has a great turn here. Impy gets ghost walk and kills the objective, lord of the feast a couple of ravagers. His sentinels try to wipe my riders but need 8s to hit. He does well but one and my champion survives. His chimera kills another ravager and some destors are revived.
Paul scores 2
2 – 2!
Circle turn 3
It’s certainly a feat turn here. It’s just about mitigating as much assassination potential as possible as impy is all up im my grill. With both my grevious weapons off the table and my ravagers in the wrong spot to get to him i know i can’t reliably kill him so instead opt to distrupt him and do what damage i can. My rider champ kills off 3 sentinels on her own, like a babe. Between my surviving ravagers on the right and my rider i’m able kill all but 3 sentinels and the soulless. Morv then goes, puts carnivore on the left unit and feats all three units back to full before getting the hell out of dodge. My left ravagers finish all the Destors and kill off Eiyriss but because i’m a massive gimp i forgot to contest his zone until i had nothing left to activate that could reach it. I also didn’t see a ravager in my left unit as it was blocked from my vision by the bird so i didn’t even have a full unit in the left zone. I finished my turn by putting the raptor into Impy and the chimera, disrupting them both and doing a bit of damage to imp.
Paul scores 1.
3 – 1 to Ret!
Paul only had time to activate a couple of things before he clocked.
Possibly a lucky escape that he clocked since i was such a massive tool in my last turn. But saying that. He had no way of clearing any of the other zones (Even if impy had rolled box cars on both attacks, with the armour debuff from shade it wouldn’t have killed it. So at most he goes to 4 – 2 and in my next turn i can comfortably kill imperatus, his chimera and the rest of the sentinels plus maybe his objective too which means i think i could have scored back 3 or 4 points and then attrition would have been too far in my favour.
