Round 2 saw me up against a friend from our “Rival” club, Jonny. He was running Vlad 1 winterguard rockets with double carriage and Vlad 2 in AC. I saw an opportunity to bust out Morvhanna and jumped on it. My thinking being, if he drops AC then i can outgrind it thanks to my feat and if he drops vlad1 then i only really need to deliver 1 ravager to make mincemeat of his winterguard. Additionally on spread the net he couldn’t really stay relevant on scenario and shoot my head off, plus with a forest in the middle it was basically Tharn christmas. He ended up dropping Vlad 2.

I won the roll off and again decided to take second turn for the same reasons as the last game. A long 7 turn grind favours second turn. I picked the side with a flag in a forest. My opponent deployed his shock troopers centrally, his demo’s and chariot deployed on my left flank along with one of the strikes. The other three tankers and his eliminators deployed on the right with his battlegroup centrally with Vlad. I deployed my bird opposite his chariot to put pressure on it, my riders took the left flank to harass his zone and i double up my ravagers on my right to force through his lines where he had less models. Lord of the feast deployed central on the hill.
Khador Turn 1:
Jonny did his advanced moves and then advanced up, staying in shield wall on the shocks and the trench for the demo’s. He made sure to stay out of range of the lord of the feast and the skyfire range of the bird. Assail goes on the Devastator and Vlad puts up Arcane power. His Kodiak does a cheeky little trick of venting steam onto Vlad, damaging him for a couple of points. Thanks to it not being an attack it activated his +2 Strength and Arm buff. Spicy.
Circle Turn 1:
My bird moved up and took some shots at his chariot doing a few points of damage to it before repoing back out of range. Lord of the feast ran to behind the forest on the left and the riders sat out of threat ranges. My ravagers pushed up with one from each unit much further up as vengeance bait. Morv casts fog of war and puts carnivore on lord of the feast.
Khador Turn 2:
Jonny again moves up cautiously and defensively. All of his demo corps get into the trench, the chariot didn’t have any good target thanks to flying high and/or stealth so popped out some clouds that the Kodiak filled in with a trample and steam vent. The tankers push up the right flank, one basing the flag and the eliminators ran, one getting into my zone the other chilling out on a hill.
Circle Turn 2:
My raptor starts the turn and drops the chariot down to only a couple of boxes. I put a couple of riders into it to finish it, who then repo into annoying places, one staying safely behind the forest as a feat target. I charge the Kodiak with 3 ravagers and do about half of it’s boxes. The other unit clears out the eliminators and one charges the devastator doing as couple of boxes. One takes up position to within 4 of his flag. Doggo stays in my zone and the lord of the feast runs to my flag.
2-0 to Circle
Khador Turn 3:
Vlad feats and puts hand of fate on the demo corps and Atanas puts relentless charge on them and clears a rider. The tanker charges the other and finishes it off before the demo corps charged in and killed off lord of the feast and one of the riders. A combo of charges and sprays clear out 4 of the ravagers and a tanker gets in my zone. The Kodiak kills off two of the three ravagers that went in on it. Jonny manages to clear his flag and zone but hasn’t got a jack available and vlad is too far away to get in his zone so only score on his flag.
2 – 1 to Circle
Circle Turn 3:
I decide to give up on my left flank as i’m going to struggle to kill the feated demo corps this turn. I do however want to clear his solo’s so that i can stay ahead on CPs. My wolf rider champ moves up and jumps into the back arc of one of his tankers and wrecks it. With that gone he has no more solo’s on the left side so i can ignore my flag and push hard up the right to start using the forest. My raptor runs away from the demo corps and riles for a few. My ravagers clear the tanker in my zone and a couple more charge the devastator, doing more damage to it. Then Morv activates and feats topping up all of the units and then repoing out of any of his threats.
3 – 1 to Circle
Khador Turn 4:
At this point Jonny was starting to run out of clock and had a lot of bodies he had to get through. His devastator finally opens it’s shell and death rains killing 2 ravagers, one of the suppression tankers clears out more ravagers and the other clears a few riders. The Demo corps finishing off another. Vlad walks into his zone but he can’t get to my zone so we both score.
(I forgot a picture here)
4 – 2 to Circle.
Circle turn 4:
My ravagers clean up both of his tankers, his devastator and his Kodiak and a rider advances and jumps into his zone. A shaman runs to the right hand flag and Morv runs right to back of my zone. I score 2
6 – 2 to Circle
Khador Turn 5:
Jonny only had a minute or two left on his clock at this point. He literally cannot get anything to Morv and doesn’t have the time to play the rest of the game, especially being down by CPs and so he shakes my hand at this point.
This was always going to be a tough game for Jonny. Armoured Corps is all about attrition and up front force and Morvhanna 2 is a very hard caster to out attrition without rfp. I think it might have been tougher with his Shock troopers on the right as stuck behind the forest they did very little all game but it still might not have been enough as my raptor was untouched and i finished the game with 11 out of 14 ravagers still in tact.
